Destiny Will Not Be Coming To PC For Now Because Bungie Do Not Want To Spread Too Thin

Destiny, the hotly anticipated squad-based online shooter from Halo creators Bungie, will not be release on PC for fears that it would spread the developer team too thin.

The online shooter with MMO stylings appears like it would be a natural fit for PC, but the title’s creators believe that they should be concentrating on getting the console versions to as high a level as possible before even considering a PC release…

Bungie’s community manager Eric Osborne stated in an interview; "It’s a huge challenge to ship four platforms and a massive opportunity to reach a new audience.” He went on to say; "We know there are a lot of people out there asking for PC and we know that there are a lot of gamers that would willingly give us money, but what we have to do is make sure we’re focused enough to bring a good experience to any platform that we ship on.

What we 100 percent are not going to do is spread ourselves so thin that it negatively harms the other platforms. So right now we have the four platforms, which is a lot to focus on."

Destiny is currently slated to appear on not just the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One but also the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. It’s currently unknown how Bungie plans to deal with the shift in the player-base to the next-generation of consoles. Both Sony and Microsoft are pledging support for the current generation of consoles for the next two years, but this of course doesn’t sit well with Bungie’s 10-year plan. It seems slightly bizarre to focus a long-term project such as this on two consoles that are picking up their pensions, so to speak, while the unfaltering PC is getting put by the wayside.

As long as there’s a viable audience out there for us to deliver a game to I’m sure we’ll continue to deliver Destiny’s experience to them, but it’s hard for me to forecast what that looks like depending on the skew between playerbases two years out,” Osborne went on to say.

Bungie’s first non-Halo title since its breakaway from Microsoft has got many gamers licking their lips with anticipation, the game’s fantastical sci-fi stylings very much calling to mind much of Halo’s attention-grabbing aesthetic.

Are you disappointed that Destiny may never be coming to PC?

Do you see the point in Bungie focusing its efforts on a title with a ten-year plans for consoles on their way out?

console = poor visuals /set fps limit
Pc = super visuals / no fps limit
most smart people will choose the later opinion if given the choice

um...whats up with PC getting left out with everything now? so many exclusives so great games that are not coming to PC? Now Granted that the Next gen is coming up but if they are going to be on a last gen console why not stop that put it on PC instead so that people (such as myself) that have a PC and don't plan on getting the next gen consoles anytime soon and barely plays the consoles he has can actually enjoy the game and give the developers their money...

and if they took out current gen consoles and used it for PC it would be cheaper AND get more money.

Consoles and PCs are natural enemies. Damn consoles, they're ruining video games.

that's what im thinking to if your going to build a nice game do it on PC and next gen consoles why waste a nice game on old consoles that can barley run the cool features they put hard work to ?

It makes sense, just wait a bit, would you rather have a low quality port, and a bad experience on the consoles? or a good game on the 4 platforms, then have an awesome port like Borderlands 2 quality

Well, if it's successful on consoles, i'm pretty sure they make a PC version too, i will kinda get this game for free since me and my friend have a deal that i buy Dying light and he buys Destiny, and after we have played 'em enough we can swap them :D

yet another crappy decision, GJ Bungie GJ. i dont get why companies support these lame-ass consoles rather than the machine that could truly show their games potential. oh yeah, they be riding the cash cow
