Ark: Survival Evolved is now leaving Early Access on August 29th, Studio Wildcard has announced. The originally planned launch date was August 8th, and despite going gold, the team has delayed Ark: Survival Evolved due to issues that arose with certification for the retail release.
Every so often, curious things can happen. Pigs can fly. Sigourney Weaver did make that trick shot in Alien Resurrection. And Early Access survival games can actually launch.  Ark: Survival Evolved has been wandering around in the primaeval wilderness for over two years, but now Studio Wildcard has confirmed a final August 8th release date. Hip hip hooray and all that, but the news has been joined by the raising of the price from its previous $29.99 asking price all the way up to a full $59.99 title.
Skeptical of Early Access? Try this for size. Studio Wildcard has announced and launched the first fully fledged expansion pack for ARK: Survival Evolved, a game which itself is still in Early Access. ARK: Scorched Earth will set you back £15 / $20 and Studio Wildcard claim it’s “completely finished”.
Ark: Survival Evolved, the latest in a long line of Early Access survival games that will in all probability never be finished, nevertheless continues to be updated with new content at an alarming rate. Fresh from the news more than two million copies have been shifted, Studio Wildcard has added baby dinosaurs.
I wasn't aware this was happening but the immensely popular ARK: Survival Evolved is going to be getting DirectX 12 support soon. The flavour of the month survival sim has just cruised past the two million mark on copies sold, and getting in there early with DirectX 12 compatibility certainly isn’t going to do it any harm.
Ark: Survival Evolved hasn’t even made its way out of Early Access yet, but Studio Wildcard has already revealed it’s got plans for a hefty expansion pack to come shortly after the game’s launch. Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczak announced the plans during a recent interview, as well as admitting that content updates for the well supported Early Access survival title will begin to dry up during the weeks and months leading up to its launch.
Studio Wildcard has announced it’s partnering with Epic Games to provide official Unreal Engine 4 modding tools for its prehistoric survival game, Ark: Survival Evolved. The multiplayer game is all about harvesting, crafting, and building shelters capable of fending off all manner of Jurassic beasts, but it's about to get a whole more creative.
