As AMD gears up to finally release their own lineup of ray tracing-capable graphics cards, the battle for ray traced performance will be at an all time high. Whilst we’ve seen some rumored ray tracing benchmarks for the Radeon RX 6000 series already, we haven’t got anything official from AMD themselves yet, but they promise more will be revealed soon.
Okay, I know it’s a bit of a salt in the wound right now considering the upcoming Demons Souls Remake is probably not coming to PC anytime soon, but you have to admit that it does looks good, really good in fact. A couple of weeks ago at AMD’s Ryzen event we saw a Vega 10 Radeon GPU running with 8GB HBM2 memory, knocking through DOOM 4K at a rock solid 60 frames per second. This raised a number of questions about the pricing of Vega 10. HBM2 yields are low and incorporating them on all Radeon cards could be commercial suicide. According to a new report, AMD is looking to sidestep this issue with its upcoming Vega chips, offering users the choice between GDDR5, GDDR5X and HBM2.
Microsoft has confirmed its Xbox Play Anywhere initiative will launch on September 14th. Any first party Microsoft launching on or after this date will be cross-play and cross-buy on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. So, if you buy Gears of War 4 digitally on Xbox One, you can also download and play it on your PC at no charge.
