Welcome to day 2 of the 12 Games of Christmas tournament where a dozen games battle it out to be the best gift to receive under the tree when you wake up on that festive morning. Yesterday we saw Assassins Creed Valhalla and Death Stranding duke it out for a spot at the semi-final, with AC Valhalla ultimately taking the top spot with 238 votes against 87...
Horizon: Zero Dawn gained a lot of traction recently due to the announcement of a PC release, but something that has been kept quiet for a while now is the news of a sequel. The hugely successful open-world RPG is bound to get a sequel after it’s critical reception and numerous awards, and current rumors suggest that an entire trilogy is in the works.
It seems like all those rumours have finally paid off, Horizon: Zero Dawn is officially coming to PC in the next few months. After many, many rumours and leaks we have official confirmation from PlayStation themselves, or more specifically, from Hermen Hulst, the President of PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios.
Horizon: Zero Dawn swiftly proved one of Sony’s greatest success stories of the PlayStation 4 generation. Not only did it earn rave reviews, pretty much a first for Guerilla Games, but it also went on to sell more than 10 million copies.
The first round is done and dusted. Six games are now in the rearview mirror, while six gaming giants remain. It's Assassin's Creed Origins v Horizon: Zero Dawn in the first 12 Games of Christmas Semi-Final.
If you plan on buying a loved one (or yourself) PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch for Christmas 2017, there are two must-have games that would be the perfect companion gifts. Horizon: Zero Dawn is the PS4's biggest 2017 exclusive, while Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Switch is the highest reviewed game of the year. Out of the PS4 and the Switch, which has the best 2017 exclusive though? It's Fight 2 of the 12 Days of Christmas.
Guerrilla Games’ post-launch support for Horizon: Zero Dawn really has been stellar. And, despite the upcoming Frozen Wilds expansion that was revealed at E3, they’ve still found time to release a 1.30 patch for Horizon: Zero Dawn that adds a swanky New Game+ option.
Horizon: Zero Dawn developer Guerrilla Games has posted several job listings which appear to indicate a sequel is in the works. Guerrilla Games is looking to fill several positions at the studio, including for a Senior Technical Animator proficient in skinning humanoid and non-humanoid characters, alongside a ‘Senior Creature Animator’.
Horizon: Zero Dawn has done rather well for both Sony and Guerrilla Games. Not only was it critically acclaimed, but it’s also managed to shift 2.6 million copies during its first week on sale. That makes it the fast selling first-party PlayStation 4 game yet. By now PlayStations fans are starting to reach the end credits however, and Guerrilla Games has taken the opportunity to tease a Horizon: Zero Dawn expansion pack.
The start of March is shaping up to be the battle of the open-world giants. Not only is Nintendo trying to compete for your hard-earned cash with the hugely promising The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but Guerilla Games and Sony are hoping Horizon: Zero Dawn will become the PlayStation’s own Zelda. A pair of new trailers have dropped for Horizon, one showcasing the expansive environments the player will be exploring, the other highlighting the huge robotic dinosaurs which stalk across it.
Sony has just hit us with one heck of a new Horizon: Zero Dawn trailer, although be warned: this is about as spoilerific as it comes. In fact, I think I wish I’d never had to watch the damn thing. It turns out Horizon: Zero Dawn goes places. Places you’d never known if all you’d seen was Aloy sneaking through the undergrowth and hunting mecha-dinos. Those were simpler times. More peaceful times.
