The Bard’s Tale series is probably older than most people reading this article right now, launching all the way back in the halcyon days of 1985. A time when Back to the Future was just hitting the silver screen. It’s one of the earlier computer RPGs in existence, earning fame for its faux-3D visuals. Fast-forward more than 30 years and Bard’s Tale is back with The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep, a new dungeon-crawling RPG from inXile, of Wasteland 2 fame.
Hardcore dungeon crawler The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep has a release date on PC. The RPG from inXile Entertainment and Brian Fargo, writer of the original 1985 The Bard’s Tale, will be launching on September 18th.
Hot off the Kickstarter success of Wasteland 2, inXile Entertainment has brought its next title, The Bard’s Tale IV, to the crowdfunding platform. The studio is looking for $1.25 million, which it promises to double with its own money, and as it stands it’s pretty much there already, cruising past $1 million in just a matter of days.
Wasteland 2 developer inXile Entertainment has confirmed it is working on The Bard’s Tale 4. inXile CEO confirmed Brian Fargo revealed the news during a panel at PAX South, finally taking the wraps off the fan-favourite series the studio has been teasing for months.
