I know some of you folks can’t get enough of wiping fog off your gas mask so here’s some good news - 4A Games is working on an all-new title in the Metro series.
In the absence of paid mods, and the burning pitchforks those much-derided words usually dredge up, Nexus Mods has kicked off a rather neat new Donation Points system. Nexus Mods says it will be fronting up $100,000 of its own cash over the next 12 months, and it will be divvying this cash out to mod creators based on the number of Donation Points they earn.
The Dutch Gambling Authority has announced a hardline stance on lootboxes on games, one of the first official authorities to make such a move. The gaming authority researched ten popular games with lootboxes containing digital items. Of these 10 games, four had lootboxes that could both be purchased with real-world currency and their contents sold on digital marketplaces.
After the minor disaster that was Dishonored 2’s launch on PC, you’d be forgiven for being a little wary of Arkane’s next output. Arkane Austin may be a different studio entirely to the Lyon outfit that cranked out Dishonored 2, however that hasn’t stopped them being ultra careful they don’t make the same mistakes with the Prey reboot. Arkane president Raphael Colantonio has said the team has “doubled [its] thoroughness” during testing for Prey in an effort to make the game run smoothly on PC.
If you were wondering where 4A Games has been the last three years, wonder no more. Tucked away on Metro author Dmitry Glukhovsky’s website is a timeline of the books and games. And right down at the bottom? ‘The next Metro video game’, coming in 2017.
Even the most die hard of God of War fans will hold their hands up and admit they’re tired of the Greek mythos surrounding the series. I mean, how many times can Kratos really work his way through the gods to the top of Mount Olympus? I rest my case. It’s why there was plenty of brow furrowing when it was revealed God of War 4 was in the works, but on the basis of a recent leak it’s going to take a very different trajectory to what was expected.
ArenaNet has announced Guild Wars 2’s first ever expansion pack, Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, which will give players of the MMORPG an all-new area to explore - Maguuma Jungle. Continuing on from the events of the Living Story, players must embark on an epic quest line to destroy the dragon Mordremoth.
